I had a dream the other night and my guides told me to ask you about this. In the dream, I walked past an elderly gentleman sitting in a chair. I think I had seen him the same way in another dream but not sure. Then, all I remember was my guides told me to ask you about him because you know the significance of him in my life. Is this true and was it really a message? I journal my dreams and receive messages from my guides and friends and family that have passed. How can we learn from our dreams?

Great question!

The old man in the dream is wisdom trying to tell you something. Wisdom says to us that we should not depend on magic or luck to help us accomplish our goals but with hard work, self-discipline and commitment.

With regard to goals in our life, there are two kinds; the goals we have at the conscious level desire and the goals that we were born to the earth with often yet to be realized. When our external goals are in conflict with our internal or immortal goals, we feel a sense of longing. This feeling that we have inside when our immortal goals are in conflict with our earthly goals is the proverbial "empty place inside". No matter how we try to fill that empty place it will remain empty until our internal and external goals are the same. The goal of our earth life is transformation. Think about that in terms of your own life and ask yourself the question… "What do I need to change about me?”

What I've just said in the above paragraph is wisdom your guides know well. Your guides want to answer your prayers but they would be remiss in their responsibility if they did not try to teach you this wisdom. It comes down to how well we listen! How can we hear our guides tell us which way to go if we are constantly telling them where we want to go? How can we hear God tell us the truth when we are constantly telling God what our beliefs are? In order to hear "the truth", we must clear our minds of our own desires completely and listen to wisdom from within. The old man in your dream is trying to tell you this but in order to hear him… you will need to stop, clear your mind of all beliefs and wrong thinking and listen; and when you have heard, you need to do what he tells you. If you are to be successful in the way that you have defined success, it will be in order to help teach you a higher wisdom. True success does not come from what we accomplish here on the earth per say, true success is only true when it is immortal. That is not to say that we cannot live well while we are here. God wants us to live well while we are on the earth but not at the expense of our immortal souls. Find that place inside where you can live well and still move toward enlightenment and transformation. The old man in the your dream wants the very best for you, while you are on the earth but he also wants that empty place to be filled before you leave. Hope this helps!

Some general information about dreams:

Our guides are the actors in our dreams. Our dreams are like a play with scripts, costumes and sets. Our guides are always trying to get information to us but information does not come easily. There are communication boundaries that must not be crossed least our earth learning experience be nullified. In a perfect world our dreams would be remembered in their entirety but this is not the case. There are times when we remember only a small part of our dreams and there are others when we remember much of it. There are other times when we do not remember a dream at all. Our dreams are there to help our guides communicate with us in the only ways they can. When the dream is well done and is within the boundary of communication, we remember it; when it is not, we do not remember it. Our guides go through a considerable amount of work to script and act out our dreams but often, most of the production is not seen because it is either outside of the boundary of communication or it does not reflect the message to be sent properly. The guides that do dreams are learning also. Doing for others is how we learn at the next higher level.

In our dreams, symbols are used because symbols can often communicate many things. Symbols simplify concepts that are often very complicated and simplicity is the key to communication. Dream symbols are usually very easy to interpret if we put our mind to it; even the use of “dream books” is useful. Although dream books vary a bit, your guides will use the dream book "you" happen to have in your book collection when they do your dreams. However, interpreting dreams is not the entire goal; it is understanding the message and taking the appropriate action which results in transformation. Our guides are prohibited from just telling us what they want us to know. They certainly have the ability to do that. The question we have to ask ourselves is why don't they? If they want us to know something so bad, why don't they just come to us and say it out right! If that would be the answer for our transformation, they would do that but transformation is not easy, it is not meant to be. It is struggle that builds character; it is the resistance that earth life offers that builds strength. Personal strength is the characteristic we need to live in an immortal community.

When we come to earth, we live for the few years while we are here with the façade of perceived mortality. This façade is actually a teaching device. It is this façade that gives all of us an opportunity to not know. However, this can be a blessing or a curse. Not knowing our future, allows us to seek higher wisdom from something or someone else unseen but often, instead we seek it from one another which is the blind leading the blind. True wisdom should never come from another person here in the land of the blind… “earth”; but only from within which is wherein true wisdom can be heard. It is a choice that determines from where we seek true wisdom.

Good luck on your journey….
