Response
J.S. Thompson’s Response:
The error in your assertion is that consciousness is not made of matter. It is! It is illogical to assume that what can be measured in effect cannot also be weighed. Just because contemporary science doesn’t understand this doesn’t make it not so. I’ll go on to say, that the entire of the universe is made of matter. In other words, there is not a blank space anywhere that cannot be measured and weighed, given the proper technology. The universe is an ocean or particles one linked to the other. There is not one thing that our primitive science can experience that isn’t matter. Here are a few primitive words that describe something considered to be not really there but experienced… consciousness, spirit, soul, ghost, etc. These are words that are the impetus for primitive belief systems. Beliefs exist to fill in the blanks of something not understood. In the future, all of these beliefs will be unraveled and seen for what they truly are. There is no such thing as nothing; only effects realized at some level of consciousness or religious hoo-ha that can’t be identified as anything rational at this particular time.
Let me break it down another way. If a projector projects a film on a screen; is the motion on the screen real? We know that the light which illuminates the screen is real but is the motion on the screen actually in motion? Of course it is; if you can see the projected picture move, it is in fact, matter in motion. This is what consciousness is. It is a projection inside of our brain. Consciousness is an interactive program designed to facilitate evolution of the being, without which we would be simply objects capable of motion. Let’s see if I can take it even further to illustrate this point… a program exists on a media of some sort, a disk, cd, etc. When you run the program, is the result made of matter? If you can experience it, even if you can’t define it… the one thing that you can deduct is this, it is matter and it is in motion. Anything that can be experienced as motion can be weighed given the technology and anything that can be weighed is matter. That’s right, your thoughts are made of matter as well as those thoughts you don’t detect, or as old timey psychologists might refer to as sub-consciousness. There are several other levels of consciousness that science does not have the technology to detect but, nevertheless, are very real. They are in motion, have weight and are made of matter.
Look at something, anything and then close your eyes. Does it go away? No, when you open your eyes, it is still there. Just because we don’t yet have the technology to see something doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Now, we just need to open your eyes.
