Is there ever a point where we can no longer evolve and grow? My fear comes from the Bibles unpardonable sin. I fear that I have committed this transgression by turning my back on my spiritual journey.

J.S. THOMPSON’S RESPONSE:

Hi and thanks for your question.

First.... we never stop evolving and growing.

There are many people out there who don’t really understand what an unpardonable or unforgivable sin is. God is big enough to forgive any sin; the only time a sin cannot be forgiven is when “we” do not believe we can be forgiven. We can only be forgiven for our sins if we understand that God can do anything!

God does not see our mistakes as sin in the context of biblical writing. I think sin is not the right word to use. Let’s consider what is now called sin and change using the term “misdirection”! God is always calling to those who have allowed themselves to be misdirected. God calls the lost home and when we can hear the voice of God, we can find our way home regardless of what we’ve done. More often, than not, guilt blocks God’s voice and we do not hear. As soon as we forgive ourselves, the fog lifts and the way home becomes clear.

Good luck in your journey….
